Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Lady Blue Devils moved within one win of being the winningest team of the century with a 74-57 win over Saint Mary University’s JV at Leavenworth Monday night.

The win was the 14th in 24 games for the Blue Devils, the fifth time KCKCC has won 14 games since 2000. They’ll go after No. 15 Wednesday at 5 p.m. when they host Coffeyville. That contest will be followed at 7 p.m. by a men’s game matching Coffeyville’s league-leading Red Raven men against a KCKCC men’s team (18-6) that has won three of its last four, all on the road.

The Lady Blue Devils’ 74-57 win at Saint Mary was also the third in four games. Alyssa Rushton led the way with 22 points while Shannon Carlin added 10, Annie Rowan 9 and Melanie Phipps 8. “Alyssa and Laci Schreiber both played well,” said KCKCC Coach Valerie Stambersky. Schreiber led in rebounding in the game that had been postponed by snow in mid-Decemeber.
