Five Different Classes Offered    (Allow time between levels to practice concepts learned before moving on to next level)

Level 1: Access is a powerful relational database. In this introduction course, you will develop skills in creating tables, which are the foundational objects of this software. Techniques of effective filtering and of the select query will be discussed. Using wizards, you will make forms and reports. Relationships will be introduced.  Prerequisite: Word Level 1 or word processing skills  (6 hours - $17.50 text)

Level 2: Creating relationships will be reviewed and expanded in this session. Adding lookups will make data entry more efficient. Adding criteria to queries is an important aspect of Access. Parameter queries, function queries and calculated fields expand this product's capability. The design view of forms will be covered in depth. Various techniques that will save time and create reports that look highly professional will be shown. Prerequisite: Access Level 1  (6 hours - $17.50 text)

Level 3: Importing, linking and exporting Access between other database and integrating Access with other Office applications will be covered in detail. Setting field properties with input masks, default values and lookups will create more precise data entry. Querying techniques will be expanded to include action queries that will update, delete, append and make tables. Other advanced queries will be explored including the Crosstab, Find Duplicates and Unmatched Query Wizards. Using wizards to add combo boxes, list boxes and option groups, along with command buttons will make professional quality forms. Sub forms and sub reports will be introduced. Prerequisite: Access Level 2  (6 hours - $17.50 text)

Level 4: Macros will be covered in detail in this class. Adding Switchboards with buttons lets end users navigate through your database easily. Functions do a variety of things in Access, including math, logic and text conversions. Techniques for protecting forms and data by the use of properties will be discussed. Prerequisite: Access Level 3  (6 hours - $17.50 text)

Access Database Design: Using Access as a relational database requires an understanding of good relational database design. We will develop these ideas by creating several relational database examples. We will continue to develop our skills of form creation and lookups, to make our relational databases have a user-friendly environment. Time will be spent in this class brainstorming about your own databases. Prerequisite: Access Level 3  (6 hours - $17.50 text)
